A Dubai-based food and beverage company said it has secured the rights to sell an energy drink branded with the richest football club in the world, Real Madrid.
Eurostar Group will have exclusive rights to sell the blue and white cans decorated in the Spanish La Liga team’s colours and baring its emblem.
Real Madrid has the largest annual revenue of any football club in the world and is the second most valuable, worth US$2.35bn.
UAE residents consumed 16.1m litres of energy drinks last year, worth US$122m, according to Eurostar.
The UAE will be one of 14 countries with rights to sell the Real Madrid energy drink. Others include Egypt, Tunisia, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Algeria.
Last year, Real Madrid announced plans to build a US$1bn resort in the UAE emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, as well as a branded football academy in Dubai.
