Founded by the Emirates Group, GE and Etisalat Digital, the Intelak Incubator has just graduated its second wave of start-ups from its nine-week accelerator programme.

A total of four groups took part in the programme, and after using the Interlak Incubator resources to refine their business concepts into workable solutions, the teams gave presentations to Emirates Group, GE, and Etisalat Digital management teams, as well as invited investors from the UAE. The participating teams were:

  • Team LiFi Tech, with their high-speed LED Wi-Fi solution for the UAE
  • Team SweepTEQ, who have incepted a way to clear airport runways of debris using a specially-developed scanning bot
  • Team Airborne, presenting their idea to help and support airline passengers with visual, mobility and hearing impairments to navigate more easily around airports using the team’s new app
  • Team Deliver2mum, who are addressing the practical problems of parents visiting Dubai with very young children, with a solution that rents pushchairs/strollers, car seats, and/or carriers for their children to help them to enjoy the city with ease.

The teams each received funding of AED50,000 and were provided with office facilities at Dubai Technology Entrepreneurship Centre (DTEC), the winner of our own ‘Start-up Programme of the Year’ award for 2017.

The teams were provided with mentors that are already experienced in growing businesses in the region, who equipped them with essential skills for their market analysis, financial management, pitching techniques and technology needs.

Given Dubai’s ambitions to become the world’s largest hub for travel, the Intelak Incubator launched in September 2016 to help facilitate entrepreneurs in developing solutions to the travel industry.

The incubator welcomes ideas from entrepreneurs, innovators and students across the UAE, for the opportunity to receive funding support to bring viable ideas to business fruition.

Submissions are now being accepted for the third cohort of the programme, with the closing date for applications on January 9 2018.
