Achim Steiner, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme, will deliver the keynote speech at the Climate Action Sustainable Innovation Forum to be held in Qatar in December.

Steiner will be joined by a panel including politicians, environmentalists and business leaders from around the world at the conference which aims to raise awareness of ecological issues.

The forum will run alongside the high-profile UN climate change event, COP18. Now in its third year, the forum will concentrate on solutions, actions, and leadership as well as the challenges and opportunities that exist for increased sustainable development.

The Sustainable Innovation Forum has partnered with Siemens, one of the world’s largest providers of green technologies, to host two Practitioners Debates.

The importance of a sustainable approach to business are evident from the fact that more than 500 delegates are registered for this year’s event, an increase of more than 15% on last year’s conference. Latest delegate registrations include senior figures from Qatar Airways, BMW Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Qatar Petroleum, plus the Governments of Denmark, Qatar, Algeria, Mexico, Ecuador and Japan.

The Sustainable Innovation Forum is on Thursday, December 6 at the Intercontinental Hotel, West Bay Lagoon, Doha.
