Exclusive: dubizzle expands motors section through two new acquisitions

Both services offer private and professional buyers access to inspected and verified cars

Classified platform dubizzle has announced its second round of major acquisitions, with two Dubai-based companies, Expat Wheels and Wecashanycar.

The investments mark dubizzle’s first acquisitions under the motors section. Dubizzle Motors has the largest market share in terms of traffic, users and number of listings in the UAE.

Through the acquisitions, the platform allows car sellers to use two new services – ‘Sell it For me’, which manages the end-to-end sales process, and ‘Cash it For Me’, a liquid and transparent solution conducted via a live auction platform connected to dubizzle’s 600+ professional dealers.

“This acquisition marks a milestone for dubizzle Motors as we are expanding our services to cater to the needs of all types of used car sellers,” said Jean-Pierre Mondalek, the general manager of dubizzle Motors. “By being closer to the transactions, we aim to make the entire process more convenient and transparent to both private and professional users.”

Expat Wheels was founded in 1994 and is designed to relieve sellers of managing and ad listing, buyer negotiation and RTA transfer, while ensuring the car is sold at a fair market price. Used car buyers can rely on a 240-point check inspection and verification of the car ahead of the purchase.

“The ‘Sell it For Me’ service on dubizzle Motors has been successful since its soft launch in December 2016,” said Matthew Davidson, Managing Director of Expat Wheels. “Since then, we have supported over 1,000 UAE residents sell their cars.”

The service starts with a thorough physical inspection of the vehicle’s conditions and an estimate of its market price by Expat Wheels. Once the bottom price is agreed with the seller, Expat Wheels will photograph, advertise and feature the car on dubizzle Motors as a ‘verified car’ and manage all inquiries, viewings, and negotiations, as well as handle the transfer process at RTA.

The cost of the ‘Sell it For Me’ service is AED 499, which is paid online through dubizzle. Once the car is sold, a success fee of AED 2,500 will be deducted from the sale price. According to dubizzle, the total cost of the service is less than the average value lost in negotiations between buyers and sellers on the platform.

Dubizzle’s second acquisition, Wecashanycar, was founded three years ago, and is designed to help sellers get the highest possible value from their car without the hassle of selling it themselves, negotiating the price, or dealing with extended paperwork processes.

“‘Cash it For Me’ provides UAE car sellers a quick and transparent solution; the service is ideal for sellers short on time or just want a quick cash exit from their vehicle,” said Faiyaz Chand, co-founder of Wecashanycar.com. “As a result of the dubizzle acquisition, we are able to obtain the highest possible trade price for sellers by having access to the largest network of dealers bidding for used car inventory on the Wecashanycar auction platform.”

Jean-Pierre Mondalek said that the acquisition of the two companies will provide dubizzle Motors with “the offline expertise and value-added services that complement our core online ad listings solution.”

“As a result, we offer UAE car sellers more choice and value and car buyers more trust and transparency than any other used car marketplace in the UAE,” he added.
