Those in business understand the importance of a working lunch. Everyone needs to eat, and if that basic human requirement can be turned into productive time, all the better. It's why the endless number of restaurants bordering the city's working hubs offer business lunch menus, designed to sate you and your colleagues (or out of town clients) with good food at a reasonable price and with speed.
But therein lies the problem. Restaurants that are used to serving high-end but delicious dishes over the course of an entire evening either need to cut back on the menu – only serving dishes that fit a reduced budget – or reduce the number of ingredients in each dish – to ensure each meal lasts no longer than an hour.
BiCE Mare – overlooking the Dubai Fountain in Souk Al Bahar – can't help but turn this concept on its head. Instead of cutting back, it's decided to serve only the finest ingredients without consideration of the price.
The result is a more expensive four course menu than rival business lunches, including starter, pasta course, main course and dessert. Yes, everything comes out within the hour (good Italian food is simple, after all) and while it's more expensive than rival lunch menus, with food this good you won't find many complaints.
