We all know the contributions that Indian business leaders have made to the region over several decades, but just how well have they done for themselves?

Pretty well is the answer, with five billionaires making into our list, led by Landmark Group’s Micky Jagtiani on $3.2bn.

He is followed in second place by Emke Group’s Yussuf Ali in second place on $1.75bn, with NMC boss BR Shetty in third with $1.72bn. At the other end of the scale, propping up the Top 30, is ATA’s Maghanmal Pancholia with $170m.

Our researchers began assessing the wealth of the Gulf ’s Indian community three months ago, and we have looked across the GCC at businesses run by Indians.

As most are private companies, we have estimated the value of their assets, taken the shareholdings into account and a projected company value were it to be floated on the stock market.

We should, as always, state that the figures are purely our estimations, and no doubt there will be some individuals whom we have overlooked.
