Singita Castleton lies within the 45,000-acre Singita Sabi Sand Game Reserve, adjacent to Kruger National Park in South Africa. This exclusive safari camp has a rich history – Singita's founder Luke Bailes used to holiday here as a child – and more than enough space to relax in the beautiful main lodge, and surrounding six suite cottages.
The rooms boast botanical art, faded fabrics, upholstered leather, flagstone floors, campaign furniture and heirloom antiques – all of which lend a relaxed but luxurious feel. Living areas in the lodge are open-air, including a covered terrace for alfresco dinners, and luxuriously thick leather sofas from which to watch the animals go by (there's often antelope, elephants and giraffes that frequent the nearby watering hole).
The property has a pool, along with a tennis court, gym, mountain bikes, archery as well as guided walks. For dinner, vintage wines from the impressive all-South African wine cellar are paired with dinner – which served casually as sharing platters – and often uses the best of locally-sourced meat and produce.
