Special flights will be introduced for one day to help Emiratis travel to Bahrain to support the UAE national football team in the Gulf Cup of Nations.

HH Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered two flights from Sharjah Airport to Bahrain at 1130 and 1230 on Tuesday 8 January, the day the UAE takes on Bahrain in the tournament.

The 21st edition of the competition started on 5 January and features UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Yemen, Iraq and hosts Bahrain.

In their opening game, the UAE defeated Qatar 3-1, with goals from Omer Abdul Rahman, Ali Mabkhout and Mohammed Ahmed.
