Boosting the number of Emiratis working in the private sector and offering support to young entrepreneurs are top of the UAE government’s list of priorities as the country seeks to diversify its economy away from oil. The Manchester Innovation Award for Emiratis is specifically tailored to attract and encourage Emirati innovators in the UAE. ABTV attends the November awards ceremony, which was held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan bin Mabarak Al Nahayan, UAE Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, to speak to this year’s winner and runners up; Abdul Rahman Al Suwaidi of Media Republic, Aisha Saeed and Zahra Al Dahmani
