At its latest meeting in Vienna, OPEC welcomed back Iran to its fold, and decided to hold its oil prices for the next six months. Production of oil will not be increased, to help Iran regain its former quota and second producer position, currently held by Iraq.

The Obama administration has contradicted Iran over the recently-signed nuclear deal by saying that sanctions imposed on Iran helped bring them to the negotiation table. Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Zarif, previously said Iran signed the deal because it wants to be fully integrated in the world community.
