Humans are consuming more resources than the planet can produce, according to scientists. Earth Overshoot Day was announced as 20th August, the point at which humanity exhausted nature’s budgeted resources for the year. Established by Global Footprint Network, researchers say that for the rest of the year, humans are increasing the ecological deficit and accumulating waste. Qatar has been cited as one of the worst offenders, with the typical resident requiring the resources of six and a half times what the earth can produce.
