Yusuffali MA, EMKE Group founder

EMKE Group founder Yusuffali MA won the coveted Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural Indian CEO Awards, held on Monday night at Dubai's Armani Hotel.

The retail king was one of 16 leaders honoured in the first ever event to recognise the achievements on Indian business leaders.

Yusuffali MA was praised by the judges for “having delivered over several decades an incredible company, incredible growth and an incredible performance".

Other big winners on the night included Standard Chartered boss V Shankar, who won Banking CEO of the Year, Apparel Group boss Nilesh Ved (Fastest Growing Company), Sarah Belhasa (Female CEO of the Year), Dr BR Shetty (Healthcare CEO of the Year) and Nikai Group founder Paras Shahdadpuri for International Achievement.

The awards were staged by CEO Middle East magazine, a sister publication to Arabian Business, and also featured a surprise Trade Relations award for India’s Consular General Sajay Verma.

Karam Awad, ITP executive managing director, said: “The contribution of Indian business leaders to the growth of the GCC economies is unmatched, and tonight’s awards are about rewarding the right people, who between them have done so much to develop the region in a number of fields.”
