Dubai's Department of Civil Aviation hands Al-Habtoor Leighton JV contract to build Concourse 3.
Dubai’s Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) said on Saturday it had awarded a 4.9 billion-dirham ($1.33 billion) contract to build a new concourse at Dubai International Airport's new Terminal 3.
The DCA said the contract was awarded to the Al-Habtoor Leighton Group, Murray and Roberts Holdings and Takenaka Corp. joint venture.
The DCA said Concourse 3 would have 20 aircraft stands, 18 of which would accommodate Airbus's A380 superjumbo, as well as a four-star and five star hotel, first- and business-class lounges, and duty free areas.
Work will commence immediately, with completion scheduled for the end of April 2011, it said.
The joint venture also worked on the $4.5 billion Terminal 3, which opened to the public on Oct. 14.
First the Pearl now Terminal 3... this is very good news for Leighton and should strengthen their share price.... It's good to see positive news in the current economic environment..
