Derit IS promoted at Al Diar Siji, Fujairah

Fujairah business hotel, Al Diar Siji has promoted PR officer Angela Derit to assistant public relations manager, following her two-and-a-half years of loyal service.

Derit has worked at the Al Diar Siji since she moved to Fujairah from the Philippines where she owned an advertising business.

MICE market is now in very Schaef hands

Malta-based Corinthia Hotels International (CHI) has appointed Silke Schaefer as regional director of sales & marketing for the MICE sector, at the hotel group’s MICE office in Frankfurt.

Domina creates two new roles in Europe

The Domina Hotel Group has created new positions for two of its existing sales staff.

Enley Mühlberg has been sales manager, leisure, for the Domina Inn Ilmarine in Tallinn, Estonia, since last August, but has now been promoted to director of sales meetings and incentives.

Alberto Ronchi has been sales manager for Domina Inn Malpensa in Milan, Italy since July 2005, but has now been appointed director of sales, business travel, for the Italian hotel group.

Etihad prepares for bom time in Sudan

Etihad Airways has appointed two managers in Sudan to oversee the airline’s new operations to Khartoum.

Mohammed Aslam takes up the reins as manager, Sudan, having built up a wealth of sales experience in Gulf countries, most recently with Emirates in Yemen.

Joining Aslam as sales manager, Sudan, is Lubna Shehata, who has held senior sales roles for Air France.

Eithad has also boosted its sales teams in Qatar and South Africa: Raza Khan has been appointed sales manager, Qatar, after holding a similar position at Gulf Air for two years.

Completing the line-up is Shaheed Rasdien, who takes up the position of sales manager, South Africa, after working for Malaysian Airlines System.

Shaheed’s Asian leisure expertise will help drive sales on Etihad’s B777-300ER operation to Johannesburg.

Good fortune for Abidi in Abu Dhabi

Safeer Abidi has taken over as general manager of Fortune Hotel Apartments in Abu Dhabi.

Abidi has worked at properties in Dubai, Fujairah, Bahrain, London, the West Indies and India, and has been responsible for the successful opening of hotels in India, the UAE and London.

Four Seasons Doha appoints spa team

Four Seasons Hotel Doha has announced its spa management team.

Madeleine Olsson, a doctor of osteopathy who boasts 18 years’ experience in health and wellness, has joined as spa manager.

Fellow Swede, Linn Mostrom, joins the team as assistant spa manager.

Mostrom is a qualified CIDESCO International Skin Therapist, and has experience working in Spain and the US.

Marco Nijhof joins

Marco Nijhof has been appointed senior vice president, Gulf, for Dubai-based luxury hospitality group Jumeirah.

The Dutchman joins Jumeirah from Serena Hotels in France where he held the position of director of operations & development in charge of 22 hotels in nine countries.

O’Rourke to open

Kempinski has appointed Duncan O’Rourke to head-up the opening team of the new five-star Kempinski Hotel Ishtar in Jordan, situated on the banks of the Dead Sea.

O’Rourke, an Irishman by birth, spent most of his childhood in South Africa, and has spent his working life working in hotels across Europe, the US and the Middle East.

Radisson appoints a brand new diplomat

The Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel in Bahrain has appointed Murat Oldac as director of sales & marketing.

Oldac most recently worked at Radisson SAS Bosphorus Hotel in Istanbul, where he was part of the pre-opening and opening team.

Spring cleaning at Renaissance Dubai

The Renaissance Hotel Dubai has appointed a new director of services in order to steer the housekeeping team through the implementation of the new “Revive†bedding programme.

Anne Jamieson moves to Dubai from the UK, where she was executive housekeeper at the Marriott Goodwood Park.
