Company: Alcove Entertainment
Alcove Entertainment was co-founded by Amina Dasmal and producer
Robin Fox in 2005. The first film started under the company was Cochochi, a production
with Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna’s production company Canana, which won the
Discovery Award at the Toronto Film Festival in 2007, in addition to the Grand Jury
Prize at the Miami Film Festival in 2008. Most recently the company produced Harmony
Korine’s Trash Humpers, which was awarded the Grand Jury prize at the CPH:DOX Film
Festival in 2009. Alcove Entertainment is currently in post-production for The Caller,
a supernatural thriller directed by Matthew Parkhill and written by Sergio Casci.
In 2008, Dasmal was recognised by Forbes as one of the 50 most
influential business women in the Middle East and
in 2009 was named one of the Arab World's 30 under 30 in business.
