Company: Algiers Medina Project
The Algerian manager of Algiers'
Medina project - a project that is transforming the
city into a cosmopolitan hub reminiscent of Dubai - is young, fashionable and hopes her ambition
will ripple into other opportunities for Algerian businesswomen.
“In my country it is difficult to rise in a business world made
by men for men. But this has only strengthened my resolve and my desire to succeed,”
she has said.
Her project is a billion-dollar real estate development on the
seafront of eastern Algiers.
She attended President Obama’s entrepreneurs’ last spring, a long way for a girl
from a mountain family of eight children.
She began her push at Air Algerie, medical association l’Ordre
des Médecins, and construction company Arabian General Engineering before landing
Medina, which will
house multinational hotels, residential towers, shopping malls and tourist facilities.
“The future of Algeria
is in the hands of private companies because they alone have the ability to create
wealth,” she has said.
