In 2008, Goldman Sachs, the world’s largest investment bank,
outlined a plan to spend $100m teaching business and management skills to 10,000
women across the globe.One of the people most integral to the plan was Maha ElShinnawy, an associate professor in the Department
of Management of the School of Business, Economics and Communications at The American
University in Cairo.
She estimates that 1,000 Arab women have benefited from the program especially designed
ElShinnawy is also the director of the Goldman Sachs Women’s
Entrepreneurship and Leadership
Center and her research has
included the effects of collaboration, virtual communication and culture on group
interaction and performance.
