Occupation: International Studies Adviser
When appointed as the CEO of Al Benaa Real Estate Investment Company, Noura Al Nowais became the first Emirati woman to head a real estate company in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi.
As CEO, she handled billions of dirhams in shareholders’ money and oversaw the development of numerous projects across the UAE, such as the multimillion dirham Al Qusais Tower in Al Qusais, Dubai.
Today, Al Nowais works with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Economic Development as an International studies adviser, where she uses her expertise to further the emirate’s bilateral trade agreements with other countries, and promote the city as an investment destination.
The 32-year-old has also dabbled in politics, standing in the 2009 elections of board members to the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Al Nowais was one of only three females to stand for election, and the polls marked the first time women had taken part in the process.
