Internationally renowned actress, Salma Hayek has been a major Hollywood force for more than a decade, with a string of hit movies credited to her.

Born to a father of Lebanese descent and a Spanish mother in Mexico, Hayek was raised in the Latin American country before leaving for Los Angeles to further her acting career. Breaking out in 1995’s Desperado, Hayek quickly established herself as one of the most marketable women in cinema, tying up endorsement deals with companies such as Avon, Revlon, Chopard, Campari and Cartier. In 2002, Hayek became only the third Mexican actress to be nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Frida, a film she also co-produced.

She has used her fame to support and raise awareness of a number of causes, including increasing awareness on violence against women and discrimination against immigrants. In addition, Hayek is a global spokesperson for Pampers and UNICEF to raise awareness of maternal and neonatal tetanus.
