Heba Raouf Ezzat has taught political theory at Cairo University since 1987. In 2006, she also started teaching at the American University in Cairo. She is also the visiting researcher at the Centre for the Study of Democracy, University of Westminster and an associate researcher at the Oxford Centre for Islamic studies.
Ezzat has been published in numerous publications, with some of her research including work such as Women and Politics: An Islamic Perspective and Islam and Secularism in the Middle East.
In addition, she is also the co-founder of the website, www. Islamonline.com, and contributes actively to mass media and online debates, working with a number of civil groups to promote interfaith initiatives. In 2005, she was chosen by the World Economic Forum to be a Young Global Leader.
