Occupation: Journalist and blogger

Named at number 95 in the Arabian Business Power 2010 list, Sabrina Jawhar is regarded as one of Saudi Arabia’s top female journalists.

Her work appears across a wide range of newspapers, ranging from the Saudi Gazette to the US-based Huffington Post. Saudi-born Jawhar  was also one of the few female journalists to actively cover the terror attacks in Saudi Arabia from 2003 to 2006.

Her Out of the Box blog, which has been running since September 2007, is a hard hitting, sardonic account of topics ranging from terrorism to women’s rights, airport screenings and AIDS.

Often credited with lifting the veil on Saudi Arabia’s insular society, Jawhar’s work appears on several websites, blogs and print publications worldwide.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English language and literature at the King Abdulaziz University and a Master’s degree in applied linguistics from Umm Al Qura University in Mecca.
