Moroccan-born Hynd Bouhia was handpicked to help run Morocco’s bourse by the country’s then Prime Minister Driss Jettou in 2004. The Harvard graduate became his economic advisor, in charge of attracting foreign investment. Bouhia flourished in the role, helping to secure a $700m US grant to aid private enterprises. In 2008, she was promoted to second in charge of the stock exchange, and took the top job shortly after that. She resigned her position at the bourse last year.
