Industry: Culture and Society
Lebanese-born Nadine Kanso lets her work speak for itself. Socio-cultural matters and ornate pieces of jewellery are not usually thought of as bedfellows, but with Kanso’s artistic range, they work, somehow. Her photography too gives some insight to her determined and independent yet patriotic nature. After earning two degrees; Communication Arts and Advertising Design at the Lebanese American University, Kanso realised her ambition and combined her passion with her talent. After several stints as a journalist she returned to and relished the art scene. 2006 was to prove a pivotal year when Kanso was invited to participate in a group exhibition in the Victoria & Albert museum in London. Spurred by her London debut, she turned her hand to a solo show at B12 in Dubai. And, in that very same year she launched her typography based jewellery line. She has not looked back since, showcasing her jewellery far and wide, and has even displayed her work at Design Miami 2008. Today, Kanso is a popular face on the art circuit in Dubai.
