Badriya Al Bishr is one of a number of Saudi women who are making waves in their country’s media.
A columnist for Al Hayat newspaper, she has won several awards for her provocative opinion pieces, and is a frequent lecturer overseas.
She has been outspoken on a number of high-profile issues, including the recent decision to electronically monitor Saudi women who are leaving the country.
But Al Bishr is not just writing headlines, she’s making them as well. In December, she was banned from entering Kuwait to promote her new book Marry A Saudi Woman due to security concerns.
She is also well-known for her novels, which include Hind and the Soldiers.
Al Bishr studied at King Saud University in Riyadh, and the Lebanese University in Beirut.
