Fifteen tourists, including a two-month-old and a four-month-old baby, were injured in an accident at the weekend while they were travelling in a bus back to Dubai after a trip to the northern emirates, it was reported.

The incident occurred on Friday night on Maleiha Road in Sharjah and police said the bus passengers suffered from minor to moderate injuries, Gulf News reported.

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the accident.

The injured passengers, who were aged between two months old and 63-years-old and were from the US, Italy, UK, Egypt, Yemen and Pakistan, were rushed to Al Qasimi Hospital.

Thirteen passengers were discharged on Saturday, while two remain in a stable condition, the report said.

Last week it was reported six tourists were injured when the driver of a BMW, who was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, crashed into the back of a minibus during an accident on Sheikh Zayed Road.

The Syrian driver hit the rear of the minibus and caused it to hit the motorway’s central barrier, police told The National newspaper.
