Twelve teams, which consisted of a total of 180 firefighters, helped extinguish a fire that broke out in an under-construction building in Sharq area.
Three firefighters were injured during the operation, Kuwait’s Fire Public Relations Department confirmed in a statement on KUNA.
The emergency services operation centre received a call at 3.30 pm (local time) on Friday to report a fire in one of the under-construction buildings, which was located in an area spreading to 380,000 square metres.
The immediate concern facing firefighters, which included teams from Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), was to prevent the fire from spreading to other buildings nearby. High winds, however, saw the fire affect eight buildings in the vicinity.
Officials are now conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.
The Director of Public Relations and Information at the fire department, Colonel Khalil Al-Amir expressed his thanks and appreciation to all who participated in putting the fire, including those from the Interior ministry, firefighters from the National Guard, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Information. For all the latest business news from the UAE and Gulf countries, follow us on Twitter and Linkedin, like us on Facebook and subscribe to our YouTube page, which is updated daily.
