So far, 2014 is proving to be a good year for Kuwait-based Combined Group Contracting Company (CGCC) chairman, Abdulrahman Al-Marouf, as at the end of the first quarter, the company had been awarded contracts worth $602mn.
Earlier this year, Ashghal awarded a deal worth $86mn for new integrated infrastructure in North and East Al Kheesa, Qatar to a JV between CGCC and Sacyr Construction. In May, the firm said that construction work on $2.6bn Jaber al-Ahmed Causeway, which it started working on in November with South Korea’s Hyundai E&C, is on schedule. CGCC works with a number of JV partners including the UAE’s Arabtec, South Korea’s Hyundai Engineering and Construction, India’s Vlotk and Turkey’s Ticar.
In 2013, the company signed partnerships with US-based Langdon Wilson, Shapoorji Pallonji, Samsung Engineering, Italy’s Carlo Gavazzi and Spain’s Sacyr Vallehermoso. It also opened a subsidiary in Abu Dhabi and an asphalt emulsion plant in Kuwait, and signed contracts worth $400mn.
