Company: Al Ahmadiah
Designation: Managing Director
Antoine Najjar is managing director of Al Ahmadiah,a major Kuwaiti contractor co-founded by his father, Nagib Najjar, in 1954. The company is involved in one of the most ambitious projects in Kuwait City – the 62-storey National Bank of Kuwait HQ.
It has an innovative design created by UK-based architectural practice Foster & Partners based on a pearl and shell, reflecting Kuwait’s pearl diving heritage. The $500mn project started on site last year, and is due for completion by 2016.
Al Ahmadiah certainly has the necessary experience, having delivered Kuwait’s tallest tower — the 412.6m-high, $360mn Al Hamra Firdous Tower, which was completed in 2011. It also built the 256m-high, $360mn United Tower for United Real Estate.
Since its inception in 1954, Al Ahmadiah has been closely involved in Kuwait’s development – working on projects such as the Bayan Palace and the Amiri Diwan, as well as Kuwait Airways’ headquarters, the Marina Mall and Kuwait City water front.
Current projects underway include infrastructure works for Jaber Al Ahmed City and the $124.4mn headquarters for the National Guard.
