Company: Drake & Scull
Designation: Vice Chairman & CEO
Drake & Scull CEO Khaldoun Tabari has had a busy year. His firm has completed work on a number of blue-chip projects, including the Information Technology Communications Complex in Riyadh and the Al Jawhara Tower in Jeddah; Cayan Tower and The Corner – Business Bay in the UAE; WWTP Nablus in Palestine; and the WWTP MBBR Kerbala in Iraq.
And the next 12 months shows no signs of letting up for Tabari, who has led Drake & Scull since 1998, when he bought a stake in the firm.
Projects already secured in 2014 include MEP works at the Mall of the Emirates and a new Dubai Airport passenger mover system in the UAE; King Saud University endowment in Saudi Arabia; and the Sheikh Jaber Cultural Centre in Kuwait.
Tabari said: “Construction projects worth $70bn were completed in the GCC in 2013 and according to a recent study, new projects valued at approximately $82.2bn will be awarded in the GCC alone this year.
“The transport sector is experiencing a surge in new project awards, particularly in the rail sector, where major projects worth $250bn have been earmarked across the UAE, Qatar, KSA, and Kuwait.
“We remain confident of our capabilities to support this growth.”
