Designation: Managing Director
Kez Taylor heads what is undoubtedly one of the best known multidisciplinary construction firms in the region. Alec. Founded as a part of Al Jaber Group in 2001, the company has since established related businesses that complement its core activities: Alemco, an electromechanical services business; Alec Fitout, a fit-out and refurbishment specialist; and Alec Precast, a civil and architectural precast division.
Taylor oversees the activities of almost 10,000 staff across the company, which has worked on renowned regional projects, such as Abu Dhabi Airport Segregation Terminal 1; Abu Dhabi Airport US Customs & Border Facility; and fit-out for retail and F&B at the New Doha International Airport. Over the next year, Alec will deliver the new Concourse at Dubai International Airport; Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Terminal 3; Jabal Akhdar Anantara Hotel Resort & Spa in Oman; Doha Festival City; and the second phase of Dubai Festival City.
Taylor believes that Dubai is currently “a great market to be involved in” for Alec’s operations. He said: “If a project is to be successful, then everyone involved in bringing that project together must all be working towards a common objective. Creating an environment where constraints and conflicts of interest are resolved quickly is often the main challenge in [a] project.”
Alec has also heavily invested its time in developing human capital, and the company is particularly proud of its Leadership Development Programme. The firm offers a yearly graduate recruitment scheme and once on-board as full time employees, these graduates are sent through various programmes to ensure their holistic development as construction professionals.
Taylor’s aim is to create a platform where Alec can be involved in every stage of a project, from the initial build right through to the end maintenance of the property.
