Company: Astad Project Management
Formed in 2008, Astad Project Management is a joint venture between Qatar Foundation and Qatar Petroleum. As CEO of the company, Ali Al-Khalifa is overseeing some of the Emirate’s largest projects, including the National Museum of Qatar, Qatar Economic Zone (QEZ), Qatar Foundation Health & Wellness Precinct and the Doha City Tennis Stadium.
Last year, Astad joined the Qatar Olympic Committee in launching the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena, formerly the Al Sadd Multipurpose Hall, one of the main venues that subsequently hosted the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship in January 2015.
Commenting at the time, Al-Khalifa said: “We were honoured when we were selected to manage this project and contribute to the development of the State of Qatar sports infrastructure.”
Outside of Qatar, Astad has signed a memorandum of understanding with Education Above All Foundation, with relating to a pilot project in Kenya’s Kakuma Refugee Camp. The project seeks to address a range of factors that currently prevent residents from receiving an education, such as health and nutrition, livelihood, food security, water and sanitation, and energy-effecting changes.
