Company: Al Shafar General Contracting
Beginning with low-rise buildings 16 years ago, Al Shafar General Contracting (ASGC) has grown to become a preferred builder for UAE government entities like RTA, Dubai Police and ADNOC, and prestigious real estate investment and development bodies like Meraas Holding, Dubai Properties, Bloom Properties, Emaar Misr, Al Habtoor Group and Damac.
Emad Azmy, the Egyptian civil engineer who co-founded ASGC with chairman Mohamed Seif Bin Shafar in 1989, has driven the firm’s growth within the MEP, interior, civil, and building materials fields. A workforce of 10,000 labourers and an extensive base of ASGC-owned construction equipment have enabled the firm to closely control its projects and win prestigious contracts.
In the past 12 months, ASGC has completed works for the Waldorf Astoria, Bay Square, Hyatt Place Hotel and Dubai Airport Expansion Phase 3.
During the coming year, the firm will fulfil the role of principal contractor across a host of landmark projects, including the $136m (AED500m) Union Museum, the $490m (AED1.8bn) Onyx, and Bloom Properties’ Abu Dhabi Marina. What’s more, ASGC has started to diversify its offering, winning projects in the hospitality, healthcare, industrial, oil and gas, and social infrastructure sectors.
Commenting on his company’s current activities, Azmy said: “With a portfolio of over 250 projects, ASGC has developed a reputation for consistently delivering high-quality projects.”
