Company: Al Fara’a Group
Dr Jawaharlal Gangaramani emigrated from India to the UAE in 1974 to work on Dubai World Trade Centre as a project engineer. At the time, this was the tallest building in the Middle East. In 1980, he founded Alfara’a General Contracting Company, which has since evolved into the Al Fara’a Integrated Construction Group.
The firm comprises 10 fully integrated construction and related businesses, collectively employing 18,000 employees in the UAE and India. Al Fara’a’s projects include the Al Hilal Bank commercial office tower on Al Maryah Island, and Silaa Community Hospital in the western region of Abu Dhabi.
Under Abu Dhabi Education Council’s (ADEC) Future Schools Project, the company’s partnership with UK contractor Wates has yielded joint venture education projects in the Al Zakheer and Al Foah areas of Al Ain. Furthermore, Al Fara’a was the main contractor for Siemens’ headquarters at Masdar City.
