Company: Nesma & Partners
Designation: Managing director
Nesma & Partners is jointly held by Nesma Holding, Atheeb Holding, Kalid Ali Alturki & Sons and Rawabi Holding. Nesma and Partners is the engineering and construction division of Nesma Holding, and has been a contributor to Saudi Arabia’s industrial and infrastructure sectors since 1981.
Nesma is also recognised for its operations in heavy industrial sectors, such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, and power and water.
Given that secured revenues for 2015 have shot up 100% on the previous year to $1.16bn (SAR4.37bn), business is clearly booming for the Saudi Arabian contractor.
The builder will be involved in some of the Kingdom’s major infrastructure projects over the next 12 months. Nesma is main contractor on the King Adbul Aziz Road (KAAR Project) in Makkah. The second project is Riyadh Metro, where it is part of a consortium, which will deliver a $6bn contract for line three.
At 40.7km, this is the longest single line, and will also involve the design and build of the Downtown Qasr-Al-Hokm Metro Station.
Imad Gholmieh says that the transport sector will remain the firm’s biggest money-spinner over the next 12 months, but he faces the challenge of securing the requisite skilled labour to cope with the wave of new projects set to commence in the period.
With 22,000 employees under his care, Gholmieh places great emphasis on personnel training, which includes career development, maximising productivity, improving motivation and maintaining safety. Human resource and other department heads must also undergo periodic needs analyses, he says.
