Company: RTA Rail
Abdulla Yousef Al Ali must be a satisfied man following the year he’s enjoyed. More than 44-million Dubai Metro journeys and one-million Dubai Tram journeys took place during the first three months of 2015, according to statistics released by Dubai’s Roads and Transportation Authority (RTA). The authority has now taken preliminary steps towards the construction of the ‘Route 2020’ project, which encompasses the extension of the Dubai Metro Red Line from Nakheel Harbour and Tower Station to the site of Expo 2020. This initiative also includes a plan to construct three stations that will serve Dubai World Central’s (DWC) Al Maktoum International Airport. Al Ali is a seasoned civil servant, having held several commercial and project-based RTA positions during his career. The RTA Rail chief executive also sits on the board of the UAE Society of Engineers.
