Company: Pinsent Masons
Designation: Partner & Head of ME
Sachin Kerur is widely respected as one of the leading construction law experts in the region and advises Government and the private sector on privatised and publicly procured infrastructure and development works.
Pinsent Masons is a growing concern with revenues projected to reach $560m in the current financial year. It employs 2,500 people across the world with 95 lawyers working in the Middle East.
Kerur, who has spent eight years in his current role but has been at the company for 19, has advised on airports, road and rail networks, power plants, commercial and residential developments, oil and gas facilities, water supply plants, hotels and education facilities. He said: “Our continued growth in the Middle East reflects an infrastructure and construction sector that has a vibrancy few global markets can match.”
Pinsent Masons has reacted to the fall in oil prices by emphasising the need for top quality delivery and budgetary discipline in the deliverability of assets across its priority markets of the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
It also maintains an active corporate and social responsibility programme working alongside SOS Children, which helps young people who have lost their parents as a result of natural disasters, abandonment, disease and conflict.
The company said: “There are many good reasons why we, as a business, need to be aware of the impact we have on our neighbourhood – both the one on our doorstep and the wider, global one. As consumers and citizens, we can’t ignore our responsibility. We could of course just throw money at it to salve our consciences – and many firms do. But we believe that personal and communal action is more beneficial to those whom we’re helping (and more rewarding for all) than simply opening a cheque book. We therefore focus our support on operational assistance, backed up with meaningful and targeted donations.”
