Vedat Koca has been driving Turkish company STFA’s business in Oman for the past 15 years, overseeing its growth into one of the leading contractors in the Sultanate. For Koca, the key to operating in Oman is simple. “If you want to be here, then you should think locally,” he said, adding that SFTA Oman is not merely a branch office but a fully-fledged Oman-registered company. It announced itself with its debut project, the expansion of the Port of Sohar, and its presence shows no signs of diminishing with a variety of major infrastructure works. These include the $108.8m (OMR41.9m) Khasab-Tibat Road in Mussandam and the $33.5m (OMR12.9m) Mussanah Fishery Harbour project.
