267 nabbed in crackdown on illegal residents

Asian nationals face legal action after Sharjah swoop by immigration officials.

More than 250 people have been caught in Sharjah in a crackdown against illegal residents, immigration authorities announced on Monday.Colonel Dr Abdullah Sahwa, director general of Sharjah Department of Naturalisation and Residency, said the 267 offenders of different Asian nationalities were referred to authorities for legal action to be taken, news agency WAM reported.

"We are determined to put an end to the phenomenon of violation of immigration laws," he stressed.
