2M go digital

Moroccan broadcaster have bought in an all new digital news room.

Moroccan broadcaster 2M TV are going digital with their Casablanca television newsroom. The newsroom will handle up to 10 regular daily news bulletins broadcast across Morocco. 2M have chosen Grass Valley equipment to be the hub of the new facility after demonstrations of the Kalypso system.

"We have worked with Grass Valley equipment for around 12 years now," said 2M TV's chief engineer, Driss Anouar, "and have always found it be reliable and of high quality. Having recently received some extensive demonstrations from the Grass Valley Group team, we were very impressed with the functionality of the Kalypso system. So when we decided to transition our news programmes to digital, it was the obvious choice."

The newsroom for the terrestrial broadcaster is expected to be completed in two to three months time. The Kalypso Video Production Centre family combines switching and powerful mix/effects (M/E) capabilities with an open networked architecture. With up to 80 inputs(video or key), and 48 outputs, it offers fingertip control of a wide range of peripheral equipment.
