New regulations on the construction of buildings made with 3-D printing technology are being developed by Dubai Municipality.

The guidelines include technique, legislation and building codes, according to state news agency WAM.

The technology will reduce construction times and wastage of building materials, according to Essa Al Maidoor, Deputy Director-General of Dubai Municipality and Chairman of Application System of the Construction of Three-Dimensional Printing Technology.

He said the technology would mean some of the city’s construction workers on certain projects allocated elsewhere.
