Around 300 people, including 24 children, were evacuated following a fire at a hotel in the Bahraini capital, Manama.

Bahraini civil defence personnel helped coordinate the evacuation of The Domain Hotel and Spa after the blaze broke out on the property’s 28th floor at 12.30pm on Saturday afternoon.

The Ministry of Interior said on its Twitter account that seven fire engines attended the blaze, and that their speedy response prevented the fire from spreading further.

The ministry also added that a short circuit was the most likely cause of the fire, according to initial investigations.

No injuries were reported.
