3Com awards star distributors

3Com treated its Dubai distribution virtuosos to a one-day desert getaway to enjoy the best of Bedouin hospitality as a reward for their supreme sales efforts over the last quarter and to dole out the prizes for performance.

3Com treated its Dubai distribution virtuosos to a one-day desert getaway to enjoy the best of Bedouin hospitality as a reward for their supreme sales efforts over the last quarter and to dole out the prizes for performance.

“3Com is grateful to the efforts of our distributors and holding such events is our way of recognising all their hard work,” said Ghassan Lababidi, marketing manager, 3Com Middle East. “We are always on the lookout for funky ways to say thank you.”

The vendor’s Dubai team was joined by Mindware, Aptec, Online and Tech Data and set off into the desert to find out how the distributors would face off against one another during the desert challenge. After a hectic rough and tumble in the sand and more than a few queasy stomachs, all on board were treated to a campfire Bedouin dinner and service.

Aptec grabbed a brace of awards — for best 10/100 switching distributor, highest wireless sales and highest reseller breadth. Tech Data didn’t leave empty handed and won an award in recognition of its sales numbers, and both Mindware and Online were also cheered on to the podium for their stellar sales over the last quarter.

But arguably the highlight of the evening was Wael Fakharany, 3Com’s regional manager, giving the belly dancer a few lessons in how to move Egyptian-style. “If only my manager danced like that,” commented one of the distribution team present. 3Com’s partners will no doubt be looking forward to future events with the vendor’s management team on board.
