Al Manzil Hotel ranked higher than 370 other properties across emirate by TripAdvisor.
Despite having some of the most luxurious hotels in the world, the four-star Al Manzil Hotel has been named the Most Popular Hotel in Dubai by a major tourist website.
TripAdvisor’s Popularity Index, which measures overall traveller satisfaction, put the lesser-known property in Downtown Burj Khalifa ahead of 370 other hotels across the emirate.
Visitors have described the Al Mazil as a “hidden gem” that has “a fresh and modern décor with the right touch of old Arabic”.
Last year, the hotel was also voted the Top Business Hotel in Dubai on the website’s Business Popularity Index.
The index is based on customer ratings, reviews and other sources, a statement released on Sunday said.
"While Southern Sun has garnered numerous industry accolades in the past few years, receiving this vote of confidence from our guests is a strong incentive to our staff to keep up the good work and maintain the reputation we have been building since we entered the market in 2007," said Richard Weilers, Managing Director Southern Sun Middle East.
Al Manzil Hotel is one of two 4-star hotels operated by the hospitality group, Southern Sun, which manages properties across Africa.
Value and most importantly the friendliness of staff make this a great hotel. I stayed there once and loved it. When living in the area I more than often abused their taxi pickup service and the lobby is a community centre for Old Town.
Very good hotel with excellent service. Well laid-out and with a fantastic Courtyard, one of my favourite places for shisha and a drink. Some of the fancier hotels are just obscenely expensive with mediocre service and a sense of entitlement
Well deserved. Friendly efficient staff, great atmosphere, reasonable prices...Southern Sun you have got it right!!
After being overshadowed by larger and even iconic hotels in the last few years it is fantastic to see that the hard work of a great operational team has paid off and the quality of the service wins over the size of the facade. Well done SS.
Southern Sun are top class operators and competeing against medicocrity in service here is not that difficult. For the Middle East to understand service just go to South Africa for a few weeks and even in an average, well priced restaurant you will receive top class service so no surprise that this fine establishment outstrips the 5 star overpriced offerings.
I agree, I live in the area and go to the hotel a lot for the F&B outlets - they are simple, down to earth and unlike their peer group in Dubai, understand the concept of sensible pricing. The service is also a cut above the rest. The courtyard area is fantastic for relaxing in the evenings. Dubai needs many more hotels of this calibre, I've had much better service and experience in this hotel than many of the other so called "luxury hotels".
I agree, the hotel fully deserves its award. I often go to the South African-stylee pub/restaurant and the service is first class. Drinks are a bit pricey, though.
I dont normally post on such forums but in this instance I will make an exception to acknowledge this very 'real' award. Such achievements are always that much sweeter when they are awarded by the paying public and are not led by sponsorship or political agendas. One of the smartest things Emaar ever did was to contract with Southern Sun to manage and operate the Al Manzil hotel. It is by far the best business hotel in Dubai and punches well above its weight. The entire hotel from the junior staff to the senior leadership team provide an overwhelming experience which you wont find elsewhere in the region. I only wish there were more hotels around like the Al Manzil; that are run in the same, seemingly effortless, stylish and customer centric manner. Well done guys! This accolade is a credit to yourselves, your home nations, Southern Sun, and of course the UAE.
Totally agree although i have never stayed in the hotel, it was such a nice and peaceful feeling by looking out of my balcony at night from where i used to live in the oldtown island area. As most of the residents living or lived around there, it was a nice place to just chill at night when you fancy a quiet drink or a nice warm bar surroundings in the sports bar. Not to mention it gave me a cool and relaxed feeling to enjoy the taxi service in front of the lobby in stead of standing hopeless under the July sun (of course thats before you had to get yourself a car). Even now I have moved away, I would chose to stay there one day I go back visit.
I totally agree! I believe staff contributed alot with the athmosphere! They have the most friendly, "we-are-family" staff! The Courtyard has a nice place to unwind, shisha and backgammon. Nazzazzuzi is the pub for football and some beer!
