After footage of all four UAE airlines flying in formation emerged last month, UAE carriers have confirmed that they will be performing a National Day flyby first tomorrow.
The coordinated flight formation that took place with Emirates, Etihad and Air Arabia earlier in November marks was a rehearsal and “the first collaboration between the four national carriers on such an exciting event,” Flydubai said in a statement earlier in the week. “More details to follow over the next few days,” it added.
Posted on social media in November, the video shows two A380s and two 737s in formation with the black and gold jets of the Al Fursan aerobatics team that performs stunts and performances during the UAE National Day celebrations and the Dubai Airshow.
Emirates said that the flypast, scheduled to begin December 2nd at 1pm (UAE time) would be the “centrepiece performance to celebrate the UAE’s 47th National Day and the Year of Zayed,”
Watchers are urged “not to put the formation at risk by using drones and to comply with all GCAA rules and ‘No Fly Zones’ for Unmanned Aircraft/Drones,” Emirates’ statement went on to say.
The carrier also release a schedule of when the flypast is expected to reach the following locations:
• Ras Al Khaimah - 13:40hrs
• Umm Al Quwain - 13:48hrs
• Sharjah Corniche - 13:52hrs
• Dubai - Jumeira 1 - 13:55hrs
• Dubai - Palm Jumeirah / Atlantis- 13:58hrs
• Abu Dhabi -Ghantoot - 14:03hrs
• Abu Dhabi - Louvre - 14:12hrs
• Abu Dhabi Corniche - 14:15hrs
• Abu Dhabi - Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque- 14:25hrs
