More than 5000 illegal workers have reportedly been arrested in Madinah.

Madinah police chief Major General Abdul Hadi Al Shahrani said 104,788 had been detained under a campaign, but did not specify a time period.

Authorities would investigate the detainee’s offences before deporting them, he was quoted as saying by Arab News.

The offences included working without a visa, working in a profession not listed on their visa, working for someone who is not their sponsor, running away and illegal vendors hawking at public market places.
