Around 92 hotel buildings in Dubai were last year ordered to correct violations that “adversely impact on the safety of dwellers and services provided to them” Dubai Municipality announced at the weekend.

Jabir Ahmed Abdullah, head of Buildings Inspection Section at the Buildings Department at Dubai Municipality said the department has formed a special committee to ensure the conformity of hotel and apartment buildings with its original approved plans.

Of the 599 hotels buildings in Dubai, the committee last year ordered 92 to correct violations which were deemed to “adversely impact on the safety of dwellers and services provided to them,” the WAM news agency reported.

The report added the first type of violation was the changing of the use of facilities, which totalled 1,264 cases during the period, while there were 790 cases of hotels adding additional facilities and features without permission.

Jabir praised the cooperation of building owners in correcting the violations as soon as they received the notifications. He also urged all owners to cooperate with the civic body in its duty in making the city of Dubai the best place to live in the world.
