Abu Dhabi has updated event capacity rules as concerns over the new omicron variant remain high and the UAE daily case counts continue to climb.
Venues hosting social events such as weddings, funerals and family gatherings are to cap occupancy at 60 percent, state news agency WAM reported.
Entry into events is only gained after showing a green pass on the AlHosn app and presenting a negative PCR test within 48 hours. Masks and social distancing are mandatory.
Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee will increase inspection and monitoring to ensure compliance with all preventive and precautionary measures help maintain a low Covid-19 infection rate in Abu Dhabi emirate.
The UAE is one of the most vaccinated nation’s in the world, and daily case counts had fallen below 100 before recently surging to averaging over 1,000 this week.
The government has said that hospitalisations remain low.
Abu Dhabi also recently updated its green list that clears those arriving in the emirate for quarantine-free travel and suspended entry from four African nations over omicron concerns. For those entering the UAE capital from Dubai, a checkpoint with EDE scanners has been set up at the border; anyone who exhibits symptoms of Covid-19 will be sent for a rapid antigen test.
