Hardware vendor Acer has underlined its ongoing commitment to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, spelling out its success stories to date and participating in the Middle East Technology Show (METS) 2005, which took place recently in Amman.
The Kingdom has actively developed its IT infrastructure in recent years and Acer has made significant inroads into the corporate, education and government sectors. Acer claims to be the market leader in the government sector in Jordan and has supplied PCs and notebooks to the Department of Statistics, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education as well as the Amman Arab University and Philadelphia University.
Held under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, this year’s METS saw exhibitor numbers climb 15% and visitor numbers top the 30,000 mark. As well as showcasing its latest products at METS, Acer also sponsored the gala dinner, which was attended by government ministers and prominent members of the Jordan business community.
“His Majesty King Abdullah II has demonstrated time and time again his commitment to make Jordan an IT leader in the region,” said Philip Ashkar, sales and marketing director at Acer Middle East. “Acer strongly supports these initiatives, and looks forward to working even more closely with the Jordanian government to extend the use of world-class technology in the region.”
“Acer will continue to be engaged in supporting Jordan’s business community. However, we also intend to focus on developing the consumer side of our operations. We have a diverse range of products that is ideally suited to individuals or small businesses in Jordan, and we will continue to launch exciting campaigns around them in the coming months,” concluded Ashkar.
Organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, one of METS’ prime objectives is to support His Majesty King Abdullah II’s directives to make Jordan an IT hub in the wider region.
