Cat has Hindi and Urdu on machines

New Caterpillar machines will be equipped with 27 different languages, including Hindi and Urdu to provide easy operation for the many Indian and Pakistani operators in the gulf.

Goran Hjerpe, excavator marketing manager, Caterpillar EMEA told Construction Week that it was vital for the operator to understand the directions in the machine for a safer operational environment.

“The new machines are equipped with software that enables the operator to choose from 27 different languages including Hindi and Urdu.”

“We try and upgrade our systems every year and add new languages as well, depending on the demand for it.

“I understand there are a lot of Indian and Pakistani operators in the Middle East so the availability of operating instructions in Hindi and Urdu will be beneficial.”

Along with the language options, most of the new range of caterpillar machines that were launched at Reveal 2006, will also have air conditioned cabs that will work at full capacity up to about 48 degrees celsius.

Sam Mottram, marketing consultant, Caterpillar EMEA said: “Most of our machines are air conditioned except the smaller ones like the mini excavators as they would become counter productive if they had to be air conditioned. But, they do come with a canopy option for the warmer climates.”The machines will work at optimum productivity up till 48 degrees Celsius after which they tend to become counter productive,” he said.

Reveal 2006 is the annual Caterpillar press event where the latest range of machinery including loaders, excavators and material handlers are launched across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
