Around 2.45 million tickets to the much-anticipated World Cup in Qatar have been sold so far, its organiser FIFA said, as the countdown to the football tournament intensifies.
Tickets were sold in batches, and during the last sales period from July 5 to August 16, more than 520,500 tickets were snapped up – with fans from Saudi Arabia and UAE leading the sales.
The biggest number of allocated tickets were fro group stage matches such as Cameroon v. Brazil, Brazil v. Serbia, Portugal v. Uruguay, Costa Rica v. Germany, and Australia v. Denmark, FIFA said.
Other top ranking countries for ticket sales include the US, England, Mexico, France, Argentina, Brazil, and Germany.
The global event officially kicks off on November 20.
